This is the fifth lecture of the course "Transfer Operators and Modular Forms". In this lecture, we discuss how the automorphy condition of a hyperfunction implies that this hyperfunction cannot be a continuous function. Moreover, we study the correspondence between L-functions and eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator under the condition that the eigenfunctions are periodic with respect to the real part of the argument.
