Transfer Operators and Modular Forms -- lecture 1

This is the first lecture of the course "Transfer Operators and Modular Forms".

The lecture is introductionary and covers the very basics, that is: the hyperbolic plane, its isometries, the Laplace operator on the hyperbolic plane and the examples of its eigenvalues. Additionally, we talk about special functions that are necessary for the Fourier expansion of the modular forms.
